| Billeting Information
When a young man becomes a Halifax Mooseheads player, he does not live on his own. Each player is placed with a family from the community and spends the hockey season with them. Billet parents provide more than just a bed to sleep in ~ they provide a home away from home for the boy.
When a family commits to become a billet family with the Halifax Mooseheads, they are expected to provide nutritional family meals, support when needed and to ensure that the player feels at home and a part of their family. A player can be with the same family anywhere from 1 - 5 years ~ the norm being 3 years. Basically, you take the boy in and treat him as you would one of your own children. They must have their own room which includes a double bed or larger. Transportation to practices, school, games, etc is provided by the hockey club. All potential billets must undergo an in-house interview with the Billet Coordinator at which time I would inspect the prospective player's room and provide further information such as compensation that you would receive for being a billet.
If you think you would be interested in possibly being a billet family, please contact our billet coordinator ~ Joan Wild ~ joanwild@eastlink.ca
